Welcome to the BLUEYONDER HANGAR
Being an Air Force Brat, hangars have always been a place of fascination for me.
Hangars are more than just places where airplanes are stored, they are the heart of every base and airport.
In hangers around the world, ideas are born, projects are launched and stories are told.
I was lucky enough to have a beer with one of my heroes in the hangar pictured above; Charlie Bond, one of the original Flying Tigers.
Photo of me at the 2002 Reno Air Races next to a very rare aircraft. It's a Bell P-63 King Cobra, introduced at the end of WW II.
It's one of the last prop driven fighter aircraft to enter the Air Force arsenal before the advance of the jet age.
This incredible aircraft with it's tricycle landing gear has been faithfully restored to it's military configuration.
More photos from the 2002 RAR in the Air Show Gallery.
Airplane and Military content is under Flight in the Menus in the FlyBlueyonder section.
Links are provided where possible on the Air Links page.
Many incredible Military Association web sites have been created since we first launched BLUEYONDER in 1995. The curators of these sites great contribution to history and their buddies is valuable and appreciated.
The Surfing section has photos and information about Real Surfing, the act of riding waves in the Ocean.
It's not about clicking links on a web site, tweaking code, pushing pixels, instant messaging or looking for love in all the wrong places.
I am a surfer. My view on the misuse of the terms surfer and surfing in connection with the internet can be found HERE.
My thanks to surf buddies who have contributed content to the DeepBlueyonder and Surf Gallery pages, and to powderhound pal, Rich, for the sick air pics in the Snow Gallery section.
Also, a big thank you to my brother Earl for scanning all of those photos and sending them to me.
Our sincerest thanks to all who have shared their photos and stories with us. Mahalo
I hope you enjoy your visit and come again.
